ABSTRACT
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are tools for managing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data by integrating environmental, social, and technical variables to support territorial understanding and decision-making. Renewable energies, such as solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and biomass, are vital for reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability. Among them, wind energy stands out for harnessing wind power to generate electricity, becoming a key driver of the global energy transition. This study conducts technological analysis by using a technology selection framework comparing GIS software applications and technologies applied to wind energy, observing behavioral in maturity, integration, performance, and interoperability. Also, it allows for identifying emerging tools with high potential to strengthen geoscientific and technological knowledge of non-conventional energy sources.
